Invent a Number System (February 2011)

You learned all about old-fashioned counting systems in "Easy as Yan, Ten, Tehera." We may group our numbers in tens (meaning we have a "base ten" system), but it wasn't always that way--just ask the shepherds of Lincolnshire. Now it's time for you to invent a number system of your own! Kokopelli uses a "base three" system, and he wants to share it with you:

Pie
Cream-Pie
Chocolate-Pie
Pie-Pie
Cream-Cream-Pie
Chocolate-Chocolate-Pie

...and so on.  What's your secret number system?

My personal noramlly-unused number system is base 4.

Chocolate

Milk chocolate

Dark chocolate

White chocolate

Chocolate-chocolate

Milk-milk chocolate

Dark-dark chocolate... on into infinity.  By the way, I love chocolate.

Oh, and negative numbers are White Chocolate.  EWWWWWWWWWWWWW!  It's not chocolate. That's why.  Just fat.  And sugar.

also, just WHAT do you mean by making Bo 0?  isn't that an insult? 0 should be FMP and it should be a base nine system.

At first I thought the same, but after I thought about it, I decided I actually like the idea. Facts make up our world. So does zero. It's an important number. Without it, there would be no 10. Add enough zeros and you have Googol. Add enough facts, and well... To quote a friend, if knowledge is power, omniscience equals omnipotence. Zero is certainly powerful; the more you have the more you control.

I also use a base-12 with mostly regular numbers. The extra ones are called Vis and Ollic ( *  and } ).

and so on.

 

For larger numbers, Orange = 16, Purple = 32, Brown = 64, Black = 128, White = 256, and Gray = 512.

May I now introduce the Warriors base 8 counting system:

0=Silverpelt

1=Twoleg

2=Kittypet

3=ShadowClan

4=RiverClan

5=WindClan

6=SkyClan

7=ThunderClan

8=StarClan. These can be used to make numbers such as 13, or Twoleg-ShadowClan, 80, or Starclan-Silverpelst, and 12, or Twoleg-kittypet. Thanks for reading!
