Imaginary Mountains (September 2010)

You read about the egotistical John Ross and his fictional mountain range, the Croker Mountains. Ross was quite the character, refusing to listen to others, and, well, seeing things that weren't there. Now's your chance to get a little fictional and imaginative yourself.  What would you do, if the Royal Navy sent you on a mission to discover the uncharted Arctic? Would you ask your crew for help, or insist on making decisions solo, like Ross? What kind of imaginary landmarks would you discover? And what would you bring to keep warm? Marshmallows? Umbrellas? A Snuggie?

aah! this dagum thing is blowin up!

Erm, yeah, that snuggie commercial is a bit.... weird.....

I would bring my awesome fuzzy blanket to keep warm, and a really big robe. And slippers. And a computer because i'm pretty sure trekking to the arctic isn't the most interesting thing in the world..... And i would bring all the Harry Potter books, because they're AWESOME.

I would ask the crew for help making big decisions. I'm pretty sure the reason Ross & crew didn't get that far (apart from Ross hallucinating mountains...) is 'cause none of them agreed on anything. Well, Ross disagreed with everyone else. And then ignored them when they said they wanted to do.... whatever they wanted to do.

I would search for a polar bear, and then take a picture because i have a really big, white, friendly dog, and my family and I joke that she's actually part Polar Bear, because when she stands on her kind legs, she looks like the polar bears rearing. It's kinda funny, actually. And I would search for that tribe in Greenland (i think it was greenland...) that Ross ran into.

Hullo! I'm Annie, the Amazing Arctic Explorer. You obviously know nothing about the Arctic.

Well, first of all, I wouldn't bring a "Snuggie" or wot, I've brung a vat of cocoa. And yes indeed there are mountains. I saw them just today! They are just as my brother (yes, my brother!) described them.

Anywho, Arctc exploring isn't all its cracked up to be. The Harry Potter books were the right idea. I have nothing to read but my bro's ship logs. LAME!

So please send me books. I'm sooo bored with ice and snow!
